How does this Instagram unfollow checker work without login?
Instagram lets every user download a copy of their own data. Your “Followers and following” download holds two lists: the people who follow you and the people you follow. The checker opens that ZIP privately in your browser, picks out those files and compares the two lists. It never asks for your username or password.
The comparison is simple. Anyone you follow who is missing from your followers list doesn’t follow you back. If you follow 520 accounts and 410 of them follow you, 110 don’t follow you back. Usernames are matched without regard to capital letters.
Your results appear in three tabs:

- You don’t follow back: your followers you haven’t followed
- Pending requests: follow requests you sent that are still waiting

A name that is new in “Don’t follow you back” used to follow you and has since left, unless you only followed them recently. A name that has dropped off “You don’t follow back” has unfollowed you too, unless you followed them back.
Run each ZIP on its own. If you drop two exports in together, the tool merges them into one set of lists and can’t show the difference.
